A Knowing

A Knowing is an experimental film which serves as an ode to Divine Feminine consciousness and challenges the western, patriarchal notion of a "witch".

About the director:

Jazzara Jaslyn is a South African actress, writer and director born and based in Cape Town, South Africa. She graduated from UCT in 2014 with a BA in Theatre and Performance. A promising theatre and film career ensued, including the West End hit play LUNGS, Eliza Pendleton in WARRIOR Season 3, Jane Swann in Professionals (Brendan Fraser,) and Miranda Hugo in Lioness (MNET). Jazzara has a deep passion for exploring the human condition, for seeing the beauty and humour in life, which has now manifested in her creating her own work as a writer and director. She has always been deeply drawn to the realms of symbolism and the unseen and her work infuses absurdism and surrealism. "A Knowing" is her directorial debut.

Director Statement

While the Divine Feminine is a universal energy which lives within us all, I felt called to focus this film on women, as we continue to un-do, unravel and heal deep-rooted generational trauma after centuries of oppression.

This is an era of empowerment.

That said, I hope this film touches the hearts of all who see it, inspiring both men and women to reconnect to their intuition, their bodies and nature.

A portion of my soul lives here; it is my personal seed planted in the collective vision of a new Earth.
